 I choose to do a Christmas themed music video. The video will be done to the famous Christmas song "Silent Night". This song is composed by Franz Xaver Gruber. I will be suing the version sung by the group Pentatonix. In Christmas these videos, actors are taking part in various holiday activities. 

  • People in music videos normally wear Santa, reindeer or other Christmas themed costumes.  There might also be holiday foods set as props.
  • Props include Christmas trees, Santa hats, and ornaments. Fake snow, holiday treats and red lights are also props in such music videos.
  • The actors appearance is joyful and holiday spirited. Actors do this to try and make viewers feel the holiday spirit. 
  • The score throughout the music video is fast-pace catchy beat with sentiments or Christmas props like Christmas bells in the background. This is to make the viewer grasp the concept of Christmas time. 
  1. Conventions and code in holiday music videos include a Santa character. This is used as a symbol of the Christmas holiday.
  2. In these videos the props are always red, green, and white. These are the colors of Christmas. These colors are an automatic hint to viewers that the video will be about Christmas. 
  3. Such video normally apply to pathos. They are normally about people getting what they want for the holidays. They are also about spending time with the people you most love.

 My thermometer has come in yet which means my filming process can't start. I went to physically scout out my backyard. I did this because I plan in having a scene shoot there. I made a list of all the things I needed my dad to do so  I can shoot the scene. I realized that I desperately needed my dad to pressure clean the dirty fence. I also noticed that he needed to cut the grass because it was unreasonably high. I realized I needed him to also pluck the weeds so the landscape could look pretty. I also did this to plan out the size of my filming space. I was able to mentally walk myself through my wanted set. In doing this exercise I noticed that I would need a tall camera stand. I say this because I want this scene to bee shoot at a higher angle than my height. I went and ordered a 24 inch camera pole off of Amazon.  These last couple of days have been stressful for me because of shipping errors. I got an email yesterday that explained to me that I would not receive my thermometer the date I was supposed to. The thermometer that I ordered off of Amazon, delivery date has been pushed back due to a Wearhouse mix up. This effects my filming process in a major way because without it I cannot do anything until I get it. Instead, I networked with a couple of classmates and we shared our different thoughts and ideas for our films. We also shared helpful advice with each other in hopes of helping each other out. For an example, I got advice on different editing programs that I had never heard of before. One of them being Capture one. This professional editing software has multiple high tech accessories that would put my project over the top. One accessory in particular is the "dehaze" effect.  Over these last few days, I've been physically scouting out my different film locations. On Saturday, I went to the Miramar reginal park to see exactly what I need. While driving in, I found out that the playground side of the park closes at 7:30 p.m. Which allowed me to make a mental note that any scenes that need a playground would have to be filmed before that time. I also found out that the restrooms are closed due to Covid at the park. This means that I had to change my wardrobe, hair and makeup plans. I initially planned on having my actors arrive to the park then dress them appropriately in the bathrooms. I was then going to do their hair and make up in the car or under the pavilion. I will now instruct my actors to arrive at my house and we will to wardrobe there. Due to the new plan, I also had to implement new guidelines as far as health restrictions.
